WIND SPEEDS WORLDWIDE AND CLIMATE CHANGE DUE TO HUMAN BEINGS INFLUENCE: EXPLORE AN INTERACTIVE WORLD MAP OF THE WINDS – AND GET TO KNOW PROJECTS THAT TAKE A STEP TOWARDS THE ENERGY TRANSITION.
A look at the global development of wind speeds over the last few decades reveals major changes. Our actions will continue to influence future developments. A rapid energy transition can help slow climate change and secure electricity distribution from renewable energies.
Under current climate change conditions, researchers predict that temperatures will change significantly in most locations. For almost all places on earth, this means that it will become increasingly hotter in the next few years. Such global trends have so far been difficult to predict for wind speeds. However, many research results suggest that more extreme events can be expected in the medium and long term: storms are likely to become stronger and calm periods of wind are likely to become longer. Since wind turbines only work optimally above certain wind speed, but also have to be shut down if winds are too strong, predictions that are as reliable and accurate as possible become all the more important in site planning. These predictions influence the planning of the entire electricity network, for example: the network expansion or the locations of other energy producers. We are only at the beginning of the energy transition - but, renewable energy initiatives and projects already exist all over the world. Renewable energy sources can and must be expanded and as quickly and effectively as possible.
