Demand Side Flexibility & Markets

What if we adjust how energy is consumed such that as much renewable energy sources as possible can be used to power the energy system? The idea to adjust the energy consumption relies on the concept of demand side flexibility, the potential to flexibly adjust the energy demand to the supply from renewable energy sources. Increasing demand side flexibility, could potentially lower system costs as less storage, new transmission lines or power sources are needed. In this research we therefore develop methods to assess the flexibility potential and automate using this demand side flexibility.
